Optimization of Tuned Mass Damper for Submerged Floating Tunnel with Frequency-Domain Dynamics Simulation

In this study, the Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) optimization is carried out to reduce resonant motion of Submerged Floating Tunnel (SFT) under wave excitations. The SFT dynamics evaluated in frequency domain; a new approach cost-effectively optimizing TMD parameters for moored system suggested. Discrete-Module-Beam (DMB) method used model Tunnel; mooring lines are included as equivalent stiffness matrix through static-offset tests by fully coupled model. Since frequency-domain simulation employed, significant reduction time can be achieved. installed at tunnel’s mid-length mitigate lateral and with translational rotational springs dampers. process performed Genetic Algorithm (GA). GA generates mass spring damping coefficients. conditions repeated until stopping criteria satisfied. Results demonstrate that optimized significantly reduces motion, especially near system’s lowest natural frequency. This also works intended decreased time.
